The orchestra's 2017-18 season saw the orchestra undertake its largest international tour to date, with a concert staging of George Benjamin's landmark opera Written on Skin. Set to a text by Martin Crimp drawn from a 13th-century Occitan legend, the opera has received universal acclaim since its premiere at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2012, and as part of the orchestra's ongoing commitment to cultural exchange, we were delighted to give the St. Petersburg premiere of this piece at the invitation of Valery Gergiev, as part of the annual International Conservatories Festival.
