The start of the 2017-18 season sees the orchestra embark on its largest international tour to date, with a concert staging of George Benjamin's landmark opera Written on Skin. Set to a text by Martin Crimp drawn from a 13th-century Occitan legend, the opera has received universal acclaim since its premiere at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 2012, and as part of our ongoing commitment to cultural exchange, we're delighted to be giving the St. Petersburg premiere of this piece at the special invitation of Valery Gergiev, as part of the annual International Conservatories Festival.
